Man oh man did Specsavers rub me up the wrong way.
If you’ve read one of my latest entries then you’ll know that I recently bought some new specs. Well, I have one pair and had the other has been handed back for a refund due to Specsaver’s lack of customer service. I had tints put in the lenses for my second pair and was told that I’d be able to pick them up by the end of play last week and my first pair were supposed to be ready by Tuesday last week. Well, I was never contacted regarding the first pair and had to do an awful lot of chasing up, both instore and over the phone, before finally discovering that they had finally arrived on Thursday. The second pair were nowhere to be found and the guy who served me had promised to contact me regarding the second pair on the following day. He decided to ring whilst I was busy on the phone at work but neglected to leave a voicemail (what is it with people not leaving voicemail for me now that it’s free for me to pickup?) which I thought was just unprofessional. I had to do yet more chasing up before I finally spoke to somebody who told me that the frames were in but the lenses weren’t but would most likely be ready for Saturday.
Because I was in town anyway, I popped into Specsavers to see if I could pick them up and they still weren’t ready. The guy who checked them for me said the lenses were “inadequate” and when I asked for more information, he couldn’t tell me. I asked to speak to a manager to whom I was referred to the customer services manager. He was a grumpy sod who did not seem at all interested in my problem because when I went to speak to him, he asked me to wait for 5-10 minutes whilst he took care of something. When he finally got round to addressing me, I told him my plight and he went to fetch the lenses to see why they were “inadequate”. He returned shortly and presented lenses to me which were each of a different colour. I simply lost it at this point because it was one cock-up after another with this company and asked them to take the second pair back and to just give me a discount for one pair (I get one automatically due to the contact lens scheme). To add insult to injury, the name on my receipt was not for “Mr Andy Yu” but for “Miss Emily Robinson”.
Whilst Vision Express are more expensive than Specsavers, they at least manage to get my glasses to me within a few hours rather than days and the women who serve me there have rather nice boobs which kinda get thrust in your face.
